Families look toward the second week in may to remember Mothers. Mother's Day is this Sunday , May 9th, 2010, which means that you still have time to find the perfect gift for Mom. The origin of Mother’s day goes back to 1907 when Anna M. Jarvis, a Philadelphia school teacher (1864-1948), began a movement to set up a national Mother's Day in honor of her mother, Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis. She sought the help of hundreds of legislators and leading businessmen to make a special day to honor all mothers. The first Mother's Day observance was a church service honoring Anna's mother. Anna handed out her mother's favorite flowers, the white carnations, on the occasion as they signify sweetness, purity, and patience. Anna's hard work finally paid off in the year 1914, when President Woodrow Wilson made known the second Sunday in May as a national holiday in honor of mothers.
This year is expected to be the largest in terms of those deciding to shop online for mothers day. Countless people live a vast distance from their mother so shopping online makes most wonderful sense. Another reason is the selection is ideal and the convenience is hard to beat.
